Downton Abbey plot

Set in England during the pre-World War I years, the story of Downton Abbey paints a portrait of a complex community. Although the estate has been home to the noble Crawleys for many generations, it is also the place where the servants - within a strict hierarchy - spend their lives, with all their big dreams and small sides. Their motives are also very diverse. While some are loyal to Downton's family and lifestyle, others view the estate as an intermediate stage to another, better job, or as a place to find love or adventure.

More of the same, is actually the conclusion, but oh so skillfully made. Unfortunately, the screenplay regularly falls short of the quality of the rest (casting, acting, costumes, music).

The one-twos between Maggie Smith and Penelope Wilton have become my favorite element in the series.
