Yes, this is a very good English series. Very penetrating, honest, also shows violent sides and I can very well imagine that certain criminal 'activities' are also carried out in real life. And yet somehow a touch of British humour. Top class.
Very much looking forward to the second series.

Rather ironic title for this grim, intense English police series. It is mainly the wonderfully developed characters that lead the way here, although the exciting and often emotionally gripping plot lines may also be there. Sarah Lancashire is sublime in the tricky lead; her character is not always sympathetic and goes through deep valleys. Followed by an equally strong second series, which continues directly on the events of the first.
