Downton Abbey plot

Set in England during the pre-World War I years, the story of Downton Abbey paints a portrait of a complex community. Although the estate has been home to the noble Crawleys for many generations, it is also the place where the servants - within a strict hierarchy - spend their lives, with all their big dreams and small sides. Their motives are also very diverse. While some are loyal to Downton's family and lifestyle, others view the estate as an intermediate stage to another, better job, or as a place to find love or adventure.

Finally got started on this. It is noticeable from the first episode that this is a very tight and balanced production. Very nicely done. The acting is also more than excellent across the board.

I think the screenplay is a little less great. That gets stuck just too often in uninteresting things and is occasionally a bit repetitive.
