I like the Netflix crime docs, but they sometimes change in quality. This production is a typical Netflix production that focuses too much on the peripheral issues and too little on the actual murder. Quite strange, because it is precisely in the documentary that it is continuously mentioned that the suspect receives too much attention.

I especially miss the tension. The night of the murder lacks a detailed description and the media hunt for the prime suspect very quickly begins. The evidence is also wafer-thin and mainly based on witness statements.

That is why I can appreciate that there is good hearing and adversity here. And the striking thing is that I actually have little sympathy for the victim's family. This may also be due to the fact that the French are quite arrogant and that is also clearly shown in this documentary. French law is not based on facts and (in this case at least) is against justice. If everyone can be found guilty in this way, I understand that countries like Ireland do not recognize this strange French legislation and therefore do not meet their demands. The behavior of the French is therefore easy to explain.

As a result, the victim does not get the story it deserves and it all just keeps bubbling on the surface. Instead of 3 x 45 minutes, this could also have been told in an hour and a half.
