The fresh and sparkling of previous seasons is a bit off and so not every episode is equally successful. For example, I am not very pleased with the repetitive posturing between Charlie and Marcie. Also the supporting role of Kathleen Turner as Sue Collini started to hit my irritation border at a certain point. Fortunately, there is a lot of beauty in return. What they manage to capture in this season is the "bromance" (male friendship that takes the form of a relationship) between Charlie and Hank. In the last four episodes, there are some golden one-twos between the two men: Crying in each other's arms, accidentally getting involved in an armed robbery and waking up in the Porsche.

But the absolute highlight comes in the season finale. After a whole season of light-hearted play by a man who very easily takes in the carnal lusts, the mood changes. Mia, from previous seasons, returns and we'll know that too. The dark undertones from previous series are suddenly back. I hope they pick it up in a way that does justice to the light-hearted feel-good vibe but also gets under the skin. Rob Lowe's participation as an unscrupulous cop already leaves you wanting more.

Donkerwoud is absolutely right!

the season finale of season 3 where Elton John's Rocket Man is deployed while Hank confesses everything to Karen is in my opinion the very best and most moving piece in the entire series.

the creators also seem to know this as they use the song again as a sort of homage at the end of season 7.
