Joan of Arc plot

Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in the village of Domrémy in the war zone of northern France during the Hundred Years War. During her childhood she often witnesses the horrors of violence, but her soul is preserved by the legend of "Virgin of Lorraine". It tells that one day a young virgin will reunite the torn land and lead the people to freedom.

I saw a shortened version of 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Clearly a TV production with little spectacle and mediocre effects, also in a 4:3 ratio without the HD quality of today. Noticeable amount of slow motion due to a lack of convincing fight scenes.

But certainly enjoyable nonetheless. Lelee Sobieski is good in her role. Peter O'Toole too, as is Shirley MacLaine in a smaller role. Neil Patrick Harris is still very young here, but good as well.

Although I wonder what part of the story was actually true, it makes clear how important faith and inspiration are.
