This series is great from start to finish...Good cast, well written, great filmed...can't fault it at all. Seen the whole series in about 3 weeks...

Back to the days when liquor was still an office supply and where men could lift the skirts of the female staff with impunity to see what color underwear they were wearing. In any case, the series manages to capture the zeitgeist well as far as I can judge it as someone who was born well after the sixties.
The decoration may be appropriate, visually it is otherwise a bit mediocre; in particular it is registered. The series therefore has to rely mainly on the acting, the dialogues and everything that is brewing beneath the surface. The facial expressions of the actors during dialogues are almost as important as what they say, a look often says more than words in this series and that is very nice.
The acting is strong, and there are some interesting characters. Draper, of course, whose past unfolds along the way. Campbell is interesting because I find him a very annoying character; quite self-centered, talking during pitches as if he has a monopoly on wisdom, when you can see how incompetent he is. Very well portrayed by the actor.
Still plenty of moments that are a bit dull (and that's where the lack of some extras in the visual area plays tricks), but also enough moments that are really strong, especially when Draper is philosophical about advertising. Like in the first episode, how he came up with Lucky Strike's tagline. Or later when he makes it clear to Rachel Menken that love is a concept that advertisers have introduced to sell stockings. Those are the most interesting moments for me.
On to the next season. 3*.

It took me a while to get into the first few episodes, but at a certain point the characters start to intrigue and this turns out to be an excellent series. Jon Hamm is perfect in the lead role and he has a top-notch cast around him. Often very funny, but the series also contains enough drama and intrigue to keep you interested. I will definitely watch the following seasons.
