Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson is hopeful that there will be a Marvel-DC crossover movie in the future.
Due to Marvel Comics and DC Comics being separate entities, we have not seen the likes of Batman and Ironman, Captain America and Superman, The Hulk and Black Adam cross paths on the silver screen as of yet.
But, with franchise crossover movies being a huge business in Hollywood, and with The Rock looking to revamp the DC Extended Universe with Black Adam, he knows there is an opportunity for Marvel and DC to connect if there is an appetite for it.
“Well, I’m always optimistic. I’d like to think that we would see that," he told Variety.
"My philosophy is anything can get done. Let’s start with the end goal. And if the end goal is to have some sort of crossover that can be compelling, smart, cool for the fans.
"Let’s get a temperature gauge if they’d like to see something like that. And then if they do, then let’s create it. I operate my businesses like that. I truly believe that anything can happen.
"Anything can happen with the right people and place, and the right leadership, having the right conversations.”
Superman to return in Black Adam?
For weeks now, Johnson has teased that Superman could make a cameo in Black Adam.
"I have been saying for some time, there's a new era in the DC Universe that's about to begin," The Rock said.
"And what I meant by that was introducing a brand new character. It's not a sequel, not an existing IP. It was... you know, Black Adam. Two years ago the world had no idea who he was. We did, but not the rest of the masses out there. What I really meant by, 'This is a new era in the DC Universe,' is listening to the fans. And doing our best to give the fans what they want.
"I've been waiting for someone to step up and address the fans and say, 'Hey, we hear you,'" he continued. "So finally, after many months turned into many years, we ended up with what we ended up at. And the whole goal and intention now is to this new era, new time. Now let's build-out."
In a recent interview, he suggested the Man of Steel has been "on the sidelines for too long".
