Kaitlyn Dever will play Abby in The Last of Us.
The first season of The Last of Us, based on the video game of the same name, received critical acclaim and a lot of the praise was sent the way of Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey for their performances as Joel and Ellie respectively.
There is a major role that needs cast before season two and that is Abby who, as fans of the game will know, turns into a primary villain in the franchise.
HBO have confirmed that Dever has been chosen.
“Our casting process for season two has been identical to season one: we look for world-class actors who embody the souls of the characters in the source material,” Showrunners Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann said in a joint statement.
“Nothing matters more than talent, and we’re thrilled to have an acclaimed performer like Kaitlyn join Pedro, Bella and the rest of our family.”
Dever was previously a fan favourite to be cast as Ellie before season one was produced, but she was deemed too old for the role which led to Ramsey's casting.
What has Kaitlyn Dever been in?
Dever recently received rave reviews for her performance in sci-fi horror No One Will Save You, in which she plays a young woman stalked by an otherworldly being in her home.
Her other notable credits include Booksmart, Unbelievable, Last Man Standing and Dopesick.
