Matthew Vaughn directs this one and he is certainly no stranger to the spy genre, having previously helmed the Kingsman series.
Here's everything you need to know about Argylle.
What is the plot of Argylle?
The official synopsis reads:
'Elly Conway, an introverted spy novelist who seldom leaves her home, is drawn into the real world of espionage when the plots of her books get a little too close to the activities of a sinister underground syndicate. When Aiden, a spy, shows up to save her (he says) from being kidnapped or killed (or both), Elly and her beloved cat Alfie are plunged into a covert world where nothing, and no one, is what it seems'
Argylle stars Henry Cavill, Bryce Dallas Howard, Sam Rockwell, Bryan Cranston, Catherine O'Hara, Dua Lipa, Ariana DeBose, John Cena, and Samuel L. Jackson.
Argylle trailer
There is certainly a cause for excitement after watching the trailer as it appears that Vaughn is back to his best with a Kingsman/Bond-esque adventure with a supremely talented cast, led by Cavill and Dallas Howard.
Interestingly, this is yet another role for Cavill as a spy as he has long been a favourite to play James Bond. He was considered for the role before Daniel Craig and remains in the running currently, though he is no longer one of the favourites.
He previously played a spy in The Man from U.N.C.L.E and Mission: Impossible - Fallout.
Vaughn even admitted that he moved quickly to cast Cavill as Argylle before the Bond folks made their approach:
"I needed someone who was born to play Bond — which Henry is — and then nick him before Bond did. He plays a larger-than-life action hero with a wink. It's very different from Kingsman."
Will there be a sequel to Argylle?
Argylle is intended to kickstart a new trilogy, as confirmed by Vaughn himself.
What is Argylle's running time?
Argylle will run for 135 minutes.
What is Argylle's budget?
The reported budget for the movie is $200 million.
