Ryan Reynolds says the prospect of having to act alongside Matthew Macfadyen on the set of Deadpool 3 was "nerve-wracking."
The first two films, starring Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool, are in the top 3 highest-grossing R-rated movies of all time. The original Deadpool is credited with proving that movies with this rating can indeed become monster hits.
Social media went crazy when Reynolds announced that Hugh Jackman would be making a shock return as Wolverine for Deadpool 3, with fans finally getting to see the characters go at it after the disappointment that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
An impressive cast came together as Succession star Macfadyen is also on board.
Reynolds is a clear fan of Macfadyden, who he describes as one of the best actors going at the moment.
"I think Matthew Macfayden is probably one of the most interesting actors working today," Reynolds told eTalkCTV before Deadpool 3 went into production.
"And the fact that he's going to be on our 'Deadpool' set each and every day is kind of nerve-wracking for me. I'll be starstruck.
"I am always rooting for him because he was one of the best actors out there. I mean, no joke. I love him in Succession. I can embrace a guy who straddles the line of villain and hero. And martyr.
"And many other things."
Reynolds announces Jackman's return
Jackman has played Wolverine for over two decades, starting with X-Men and finishing with Logan, which was released in 2017.
The character's arc and ultimate death in Logan led many to speculate that his time playing the mutant was over. Jackman himself even expressed apprehension about returning.
But, his return was confirmed via a hilarious video posted to Reynolds' social media pages.
