Ryan Reynolds says he is just as excited for Hugh Jackman's return as Wolverine as the fans.
Over the weekend, social media went into meltdown when Reynolds posted a video announcing Deadpool 3 and that Jackman would be making his triumphant return as Wolverine, despite the character's death in Logan.
Jackman first appeared as Logan / Wolverine in 2000's X-Men and would go on to make numerous more appearances as the character in the original X-Men trilogy as well as the prequel trilogy which included X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse.
Following the events of Logan, it was generally accepted that his time playing the character had ended.
However, he will appear in Deadpool 3, and this is possible as Reynolds revealed that the events of this movie take place before Logan.
Speaking to Forbes, the man who plays Wade Wilson himself spoke of the moment he released the video confirming the announcement.
“I couldn’t be more excited," he said
"I mean, especially to do it this way. Ultimately, I get to work with some of my closest friends in the world and that doesn’t happen every day working in this business. I’m thrilled and I’ve been sitting on those couple of teasers for a few weeks now. It’s one of those moments where you’re hitting send or a tweet or a post - your hand is shaking when you’re messing with the zeitgeist in a way like that. It’s been amazing.
"I feel the same way that the fans do, though," Reynold continued.
"I feel as excited that this character is coming back for another ride, particularly in this context. I think it’s something that people have wanted for a long time, to get this pairing up on the big screen, and that’s what we aim to do.”
