Sarah Paulson reckons her friend Pedro Pascal has the superstar quality to remake iconic movies like Die Hard and Lethal Weapon.
Pascal is now one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood thanks to recent roles in hits like The Last of Us, Narcos, The Mandalorian and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.
It hasn't been an easy ride to the top for him, though, as he was a struggling actor in Los Angeles in New York in his twenties. In the early 1990s, he attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts alongside Paulson and the pair became friends.
In a conversation with Esquire, Paulson raved about the talents of Pascal, and is proud that he has finally reached stardom.
"Everybody wants a piece of him," she said.
"You just want him to succeed. And that to me, I feel like, is the sign of a major movie star. I'm ready for him to take the reins from the guys from romantic comedies past, like Bruce Willis and Mel Gibson and all these guys.
"He can be all that. Let's remake Die Hard with Pedro. Remake all the Lethal Weapon movies with Pedro."
Paulson helped Pascal financially
Pascal has revealed in the past that Paulson actually gave him money to feed himself while he was a struggling actor in New York.
Paulson elaborated to Esquire, saying:
"He's talked about this publicly, but there were times when I would give him my per diem from a job I was working on so that he could have money to feed himself.
"We would go to see movies all the time in those years and we would get so lost in them. You can fill in the blanks about the why of that however you like, but I think there were things we wanted to escape mentally, emotionally, spiritually."
