Pedro Pascal says he previously had conversations with Nicolas Cage about the Oscar-winning actor joining the Star Wars universe in The Mandalorian.
In 2022, Pascal and Cage starred together in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent. It saw the latter play a fictionalised version of himself who eventually becomes friends with a thought-to-be drug kingpin, played by Pascal.
The movie received positive reviews, with particular praise reserved for the chemistry between the two lead actors. Naturally, fans are eager to see Pascal and Cage on-screen together again, and it might even happen in Star Wars!
“I already suggested . I already said he would make a great Mandalorian,” Pascal told Yahoo at Disney's D23 Expo when asked about Cage joining the Star Wars franchise.
“But would he wear a helmet or not?” replied the show’s executive producer Rick Famuyiwa.
“He’ll wear a helmet,” Pascal insisted.
“Absolutely… Or he could be one of the helmet-less.”
Obviously, the interaction had Pascal with his tongue firmly in his cheek, but we can still dream of Cage as a Mandalorian.
Would Cage ever appear in Star Wars?
But, Cage says he is a Trekkie - a fan of Star Trek.
"I’m a Trekkie, man. I’m on the Star Trek. I’m on the Enterprise," he told Yahoo.
"That’s where I roll… That’s a fact. I grew up watching Shatner. I thought Pine was terrific in the movies. I think the movies are outstanding.
"To me what science fiction is really all about and why it is such an important genre is that it is really where you can say whatever you want, however, you feel, you put it on a different planet, you put it in a different time, in the future, and you can without people really jumping on you. You can really express your thoughts like Orwell or whomever, in the science fiction format.
"And Star Trek really embraced that. I thought that they got into some serious stuff."
