The first trailer has been released for Miller's Girl starring Martin Freeman and Jenna Ortega.

Written and directed by Jade Halley Bartlett, the drama is being produced by Point Grey Pictures. It was previously on Hollywood's Blacklist of unproduced screenplays before Lionsgate collected the rights in September of 2022.

Official premise:

'A creative writing assignment yields complex results between a teacher and his talented student.'

From the trailer, we see Freeman's Jonathan Miller engaging with his 18-year-old student, Ortega's Cairo Sweet. What starts as a simple teacher-student relationship soon becomes something much more, as the pair apparently become infatuated with one another.

It isn't clear if the relationship becomes romantic, but the boundaries are certainly pushed.

“Why did you write this?” Freeman asks in the drama’s trailer. “This is inappropriate.” Ortega responds: “‘Write what you know,’ is what you said.”

Ortega is one of the busiest actresses in Hollywood at the moment and has even been forced to leave the Scream franchise due to her commitments to Netflix's Wednesday.
