Leonardo DiCaprio was full of praise for Killers of the Flower Moon co-star Lily Gladstone at an event hosted by Variety recently.
In the historical epic, directed by Martin Scorsese, the pair play husband and wife, Ernest Burkhart and Mollie Kyle.
The official premise reads:
'Members of the Osage tribe in northeastern Oklahoma are murdered under mysterious circumstances in the 1920s, sparking a major BOI investigation directed by a 29-year-old J. Edgar Hoover and former Texas Ranger Tom White, described by Grann as "an old-style lawman."'
Before the call came from Scorsese to audition for a role in Killers of the Flower Moon, Gladstone was actually considering leaving the acting profession due to a lack of opportunities.
And, DiCaprio laments the fact she is only now just being discovered.
“That an actor of such profound talent has found it a long and hard road to get this recognition speaks to the unfairness that still exists in our industry today,” DiCaprio said in his speech at Variety Power of Women.
“I fervently hope that we’re entering a new era in which actors like Lily, who embody this authenticity and undeniable truth in their own storytelling, take centre stage. Because Lily’s not just an actor, she’s also an activist.”
