John Boyega has provided an update on the expected sequel to Attack the Block, saying he and director Joe Cornish recently spoke about plans for a second movie.
Attack the Block, released in 2011, told the story of a group of teenagers led by Moses (Boyega) who must fight off an alien invasion in a tower block in London.
Though the box office returns, particularly in North America, were modest at best, the movie proved popular among critics, with particular praise for Boyega's performance and Cornish's direction.
Boyega was asked by Deadline Hollywood about Attack the Block, 2, and he responded:
"We're in the lab. We're cooking, we're cooking. I sat down with Joe Cornish just literally a few weeks ago. So expect some news soon. We're still in development but we're cooking something real sweet. We'll have something soon."
Boyega previously confirmed a sequel would happen, saying:
"It's been a decade since Attack the Block was released and so much has changed since then.
"I'm excited to see this heightened story return to the streets of London. Moses has remained one of my favourite characters to play and bringing him back is a huge honour."

Why did the sequel take so long?
Attack the Block director Cornish previously revealed the reason for the extended period of time between the two movies is due to the fact he and Boyega moved on to other projects.
Boyega, obviously, would go on to star in the Star Wars sequel trilogy.
"I'm thrilled we're officially announcing our return to the world of 'Attack the Block' on the 10th anniversary of the film's release," Cornish said.
"I can't wait to work alongside John again, bringing audiences an even bigger slice of inner-city alien action. We've got ideas.
"I met with John a couple of months ago to talk about it. We've always had ideas after the first one. But obviously we've both been busy doing different things."
