The first trailer has been released for new video game Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
The Indiana Jones franchise is one of the most beloved of all time and started in 1981 with Raiders of the Lost Ark. Harrison Ford made one final appearance as Indy in 2023's Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.
The movie series is certainly over, for now, but Disney and Lucasfilm are still keen to monetise the property so have developed a new game, which looks pretty awesome.
The official premise of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle reads:
'The game picks up after archaeologist Indiana Jones has left his fiancée, Marion Ravenwood. Following the theft of an artifact from Marshall College, Jones heads to the Vatican to investigate. Jones notes that sites of spiritual significance have been built throughout history, realizing that their locations form a perfectly aligned circle around the globe. Besides Rome, other locations include the Sukhothai temples in Thailand, the Egyptian pyramids, and the snowy Himalayas. During his journey, he teams up with Gina Lombardi, an investigative reporter who has an interest in the case. They go up against Emmerich Voss, who uses psychological manipulation against his enemies.'
It takes place between the events of Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade.
Ford's likeness is used for Indy, but his voice is provided by Troy Baker, who famously voiced Joel in The Last of Us. And, he does a hell of an impression of Ford.
The Great Circle is played in first-person primarily, but certain sequences will switch to third-person mode.
There is no announced release date as of yet but it is coming at some point in 2024.
