Emma Roberts has teased a possible return to the Scream franchise by saying she has unfinished business with her role as Jill Roberts in Scream 4.
In the fourth instalment of the franchise, Jill was the main focus along with her cousin Sidney Prescott, played by Neve Campbell. In a major twist, it is revealed towards the end of the movie that Jill is in fact one of two killers committing murders as Ghostface.
At the conclusion of the movie, Sidney, Dewey and Gail (Courtney Cox and David Arquette) team to thwart Jill's plan to become famous as the victim of a massacre.
She is shot and electrocuted, believed to be dead.
However, Roberts is eager for a return, if it could be written into a new script for Scream VII.
Speaking with Dread Central, the actress was asked which horror franchise she would like to join, and she responded:
“I don’t know…maybe I’d go back to Scream. I feel like I wasn’t done with Scream.”
Two movies have been produced in the franchise since - Scream and Scream VI, the latter of which was released in 2023. That saw the return of Hayden Panettiere as Kirby, who was thought to have been killed in Scream 4.
So, there is certainly an opportunity for the pair to reunite.
Did Neve Campbell enjoy Scream VI despite Sydney's absence?
Scream VI was very different to any of the other movies in the franchise in that it has one major character missing - Sydney
The franchise hero, played by Campbell, had been in every single movie in the series since the original Scream in 1996. However, during pre-production for Scream VI, she announced that she would not be returning for the latest instalment due to a pay dispute with the studio.
In her opinion, the salary offer was below what she deemed acceptable as she had carried the franchise for so long.
Campbell could be forgiven for not bothering to watch Scream VI, but she did, and she actually enjoyed it, according to Scream co-star Skeet Ulrich.
“We were together over the weekend at a convention. She loves it; she loves what we’ve done," he told PEOPLE.
"There were just business things as a businesswoman that are important to her, and we all stand behind her.”
