Dave Bautista would only return to the comic book movie world if he got a role he could sink his teeth into - a supervillain, specifically.
The wrestler-turned-actor's first major movie role since leaving WWE was as Drax the Destroyer in James Gunn's Guardians of the Galaxy and from there he went on to star in some of the biggest franchises around such as James Bond's No Time to Die, Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Dune and Blade Runner 2049.
Both Bautista and Gunn have left Guardians of the Galaxy behind, with the latter now in charge of creating a new cinematic universe for DC Comics.
Bautista has said previously he is done playing Drax, but he might be tempted by another Marvel or DC role.
"When I said that I was done, I was really just done with my journey as Drax," he told Gizmodo.
"I still have a relationship with Marvel. I’ve seen Kevin Feige again, Lou (D’Esposito) as recently as two weeks ago. And they know that I would be up for a role. I love the universe—the superhero universe, I love it. I’m a fan. So Marvel or DC, if they call, I would answer the phone. And if the role makes sense, I’d be all over it.
"I just would like the opportunity to do a bigger role, a different role. Maybe a deeper role. I’d love to have the opportunity to play, like an ominous villain in the superhero universe. Yeah. But never. I’m not done with it. But my journey with Drax is over."
Could Bautista play Batman villain Bane?
One rumour that started doing the rounds was Bautista potentially playing Batman villain Bane for DC, something that he has teased with a recent Instagram story.

This is despite the actor himself previously ruling himself out.
"I have had conversations with James about that but I think the direction he's leaning in, completely rebooting that whole universe, he's starting from scratch and starting younger and fresher and I think you need to do that," the former professional wrestler told Variety.
