Everyone has their favourite version of Spider-Man whether it be Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or even one of the various animated versions like Into the Spider-Verse.
For a lot of people, the Amazing Spider-Man movies were the weakest of the Spider-Man franchise, with Garfield in the lead role as Peter Parker.
Though the issues with those movies were undoubtedly nothing to do with Garfield's performance, there are some who believe he is the weakest incarnation of Spidey in live-action movies.
Thankfully for him, it doesn't bother him one bit.
At the Red Sea Film Festival, he was asked about fans potentially preferring other 'Spider-Men' and he responded:
“I’m 40 years old. If you love me, fine, and if you don’t love me, it’s your loss.”
Garfield also spoke about the preparation for Spider-Man: No Way Home in which the three live-action versions of Peter Parker come together on-screen after a split in the MCU multiverse.
“I think until all three of us were in the room rehearsing, figuring out what we were going to do, there was no way of writing it," he explained.
"Every single one of us had our own version of that character and we didn’t know how they were going to interact, until they were actually interacting in the room together. So it was as if you were making a low-budget short film with friends. And it was the biggest movie in the history of movies.”
Garfield has always been a Spider-Man fan
Being cast as Peter was a dream come true for Garfield, who had been a fan of the character since he was a small child.
“I’ve loved Spider-Man since I was three years old,” he said, recalling dressing up as Spider-Man for Halloween.
“I was in the gym a lot. I ate soup and berries. I trained at Parkour and yoga. I helped with the script. I need to nourish that child who is out there watching.”
