The 2024 action spectacular, directed by George Miller, will star Anya Taylor-Joy as the title character, who was portrayed by Charlize Theron in Mad Max: Fury Road.
Furiosa will act as a prequel to Fury Road and will tell the story of how the character made her way into the clutches of the villain of the first movie, Immortan Joe.

Furiosa trailer
As the trailer begins, we get some text on the screen describing the events of the movie:
'45 years after the collapse, a young Furiosa is taken from her family. She will devote the rest of her life to finding her way home. This is her odyssey.'
The trailer is remarkable and perfectly encapsulates the world that Miller created in the Mad Max movies and then Fury Road, while Hemsworth is almost unrecognisable!
In the new trailer, we get a much longer look, as well as some extended dialogue, of Hemsworth's villain, Warlord Dementus. And, yes, we got a bald Anya Taylor-Joy, too.
What is Furiosa's budget?
Furiosa has a reported budget of $223m.
What is Furiosa's release date?
Furiosa will be released worldwide on 23 May 2024.
Furiosa proudest movie of Hemsworth's career
Even though the Australian is one of the most popular actors in the world largely due to his performances as Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems like Furiosa may mean more to him.
“This, I had read two years before I started shooting, and was in awe of the script,” Hemsworth previously said on the Happy Sad Confused podcast.
“It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve read, I love George Miller, but I didn’t know who this character was.
“In the build-up, and I’m talking a couple of years, I was scared out of my mind. I’m like, ‘I’m going to derail one of the most iconic franchises…’. I’m gonna bring down Mad Max. It’s gonna be my fault!
“I think my time on Furiosa was the best experience in my career, and something I’m the most proud of too. I put more work into it than anything I’ve ever done, and the collaboration I had with George was just beautiful, and working with Anya was incredible.”
