Lynne Reed owns the ranch where Jack Manning works, as well as his fiancée. However, she wants to sell the business to pursue a stage career in the East. One Barnes encourages her in this and offers a large sum of money for the ranch. Barnes then manages to get Jack behind bars with false accusations. The soil belonging to the ranch turns out to contain a valuable amount of sulfur...
