"DEATH RIDES IN HIS WAKE...Billy's At His Best When Gunsmoke Clouds The Range!"

Billy the Kid and Fuzzy Jones plan a stagecoach robbery that Senator Peabody rides to impress him and get him to do something to stop the lawlessness. Also in the carriage are Governor Arnold, a friend of Billy, his niece Mary and Dirk Randall, local banker and secret leader of the bandits. After the incident, Randall hatches a plan to kill a member of his own gang and frame Billy for the murder. He wants to get the governor deposed and gain control of the state. Billy is then arrested by the sheriff and charged with murder. However, with the help of Fuzzy he manages to escape from prison, after which they try to track down the real killer.
