Colt Saunders is an ex-Confederate officer who returns to his "Bar S Ranch" after the end of the American Civil War. Colt, however, faces new challenges. Beauregard 'Cinch' Saunders, Colt's one-armed younger brother and disowned black sheep of the family, has also returned to the ranch. His fresh bride, former St. Louis animator Lorna Hunter, desperately tries to hide secrets from her past from him. Colt also faces a ruthless and corrupt local government led by Commissioner Harrison of the Union. Harrison does everything he can to claim the sprawling 'Bar S Ranch' for himself.
