The Sagebrusher plot
Wid Gardner places an ad for his friend Sim Gage with the intention of finding him a wife. Wid makes contact with Mary Warren and she heads west. She is convinced that she has been offered a job as a housekeeper. During her journey, Mary becomes blind and cannot see that the poor but honest Sim is very ugly. He realizes that she is a size too big for him, in terms of origin. Complications come in the form of the doctor who tries to restore Mary's sight, but also falls in love with her. Plus, there's Frederick Waldhorn, who recognizes Mary as the woman he stole the inheritance from.
