The Pony Express plot
In the 1860s, Senator Glen of California heads the secret society Knights of the Golden Circle. In a plot, Glen wants to secede California from the United States and create a new empire with part of Mexico. Glen sends his men to Sacramento to kill careless gambler 'Frisco Jack' Weston, who opposes him. But Weston manages to escape to Julesburg, Colorado. There he becomes a rider of the Pony Express and a rival to Jack Slade, Glen's agent and overseer of the Overland Stage Co.
