The Parson of Panamint plot
The mayor of Panamint decides that for the peace of the town it will be good to build a church and appoint a pastor. The intended pastor is Phillip Pharo from San Francisco. Once he arrives, the people in control of the city's gambling dens attempt to drive him out of the city again. 'Chappie' Elerton, who runs the roulette, challenges Pharo to play roulette. Pharo accepts and is so lucky that he eventually won the entire casino. He immediately turns the palace into a church. His enemies report his gambling behavior to the church officials, who relieve Pharo of his duties as pastor.
