The Hard Man plot
"He's Got the Southwest...Over a Gun-Barrel!"
Steve Burden, a revolver, stands by justice, but is a bit too quick to shoot detainees. This earns him his resignation. The old sheriff of El Solito offers him a new job as a deputy sheriff. He becomes involved in the lifestyle of Fern, wife of rancher Rice Martin, and finds that she is cheating on her husband with others. Rice doesn't like all that sleuthing because he isn't spotless either. He even wants to help Burden to the other world. Martin is arrested by Burden, and Fern wants him to kill him. He refuses, whereupon Fern takes up arms.
