The Great Divide plot
Steven Ghent has decided to sell his mine, located on the border with Mexico, which he has owned for fifteen years. When the buyers are late for a few days, Ghent visits the annual 'Fiesta' for one last time. He meets Ruth Jordan, the daughter of his long-dead partner, and discovers that she leads a decadent life. He feels that Ruth needs to be taught manners and that a stay in the countryside will do her good. He decides to kidnap her.
