The Big Land plot
"Oh, you boys can sleep as late as you like in the morning... so long as you get up for breakfast. Five o'clock."
After a long journey from Texas to Missouri, Chad Morgan is forced to sell his cattle for a bargain price to Brog, a dubious cattle dealer. On his way back to Texas, Chad saves the life of Joe Jagger, an alcoholic. He manages to get Joe off the drink. When they spend the night in Kansas with the Johnson family, Chad hatches a plan. He wants to persuade Joe's future brother-in-law to build a railroad to the grassland of the Johnsons and their neighbors.
