Dave Saunders and Chito Rafferty are looking for work as cowboys. They arrive in Sundown Valley, Wyoming just as cattle rancher Tug Caldwell is about to be hanged by Jess Rawlins, the foreman of a sheep rancher. Rawlins seems determined to start a war between sheep farmers and cattle ranchers. Before Dave and Chito understand why Rawlins wants this, they must convince his attractive employer Chris Marvin that the man is untrustworthy. Then the two are falsely accused of murder.
