Song of the Drifter plot
"TWO-GUN RHYTHM WRANGLERS!"
Jimmy and Cannonball visit the widow Fennamore, Cannonball's old friend, in the town of Firehole. Engineer Colton is killed by his accomplice Smoky, whereupon Philip Judson hides the body. Colton had come at the request of the widow Fennamore's niece to inspect a contaminated reservoir. Land Company head Turner and Judson polluted the water to expel the farmers so they could take the land. Judson hires Easy to pose as an engineer, reporting that the reservoir is useless. Jimmy's own test, however, proves that the water is not seriously polluted. Judson kills Easy to keep him from talking and blames Cannonball, unaware that Jimmy has another trick up his sleeve.
