The Fourth of July wedding of Dan Ballard, a respected citizen of Silver Lode, to Rose Evans is disrupted by the arrival of four men, led by Ned McCarthy. These men claim to be US marshals and to have arrest warrants for Dan Ballard. Dan is wanted for the murder of Ned's brother and the theft of $20,000, but Dan denies the charges. However, Dan cannot prove his innocence and the residents of Silver Lode begin to doubt him. They even turn against him in the end. In the end, Dan can only count on the support of Rose and his ex-girlfriend and saloon entertainer Dolly.
