Former outlaw Sam Webb wants to stay on the straight and narrow. When the Cherokee Kid escapes from prison, Sam is interrogated by US Marshal Rocky Lane. The Cherokee Kid has been part of Sam's outlaw gang. Just when Sam wants to talk, he is shot by respected city dweller William Oakes. Oakes then plans to ambush Lane and kill him afterwards.
