Rose of the Rio Grande plot

Mexico, circa 1830. Mexico is torn apart by a war. The rightful aristocratic rulers try to reclaim their territories from their conquerors. However, their efforts seem in vain as rebels, led by the bandit Captain Lugo, ravage the countryside with arson, looting, terror and murder. When the rebels set the ranch 'Torre del Hacienda' on fire, one 'El Gato' saves the life of young Don José Torre. El Gato hears from Don José that his sister Rosita is on her way to the border with the family jewels. He knows that Rosita will then have to pass 'Cuedabra', the camp of the rebels, and he devises a ruse to keep her out of the hands of the rebels.
