Jonas Trapp falls in love with the beautiful Jessie, a wealthy girl. He himself is of humble origin. Against her snobbish aunt's wishes, Jessie marries him and later pretends to be pregnant in order to win back her aunt's support. But Jonas gets tired of living on his wife's family and leaves her to become a buffalo hunter. Eleven years later, he prepares to return with his self-made fortune, but is robbed by three men and left for dead. He is rescued and nursed by a farmer. Jonas is consumed with revenge and a twist of fate reveals that the three robbers are close to his former home base. However, his concerns are heightened when it turns out that Jessie is now engaged... to one of his robbers.
