Pioneer Marshal plot
Santa Dolores is a small frontier town and proves to be an ideal getaway for outlaws. Santa Dolores is ruled with an iron fist by city boss Bruce Burnett, who demands large sums of money from the locals to protect them from criminals. Kansas City cop Harvey Masters goes incognito to Santa Dolores as a perfume salesman. Masters is looking for his brother's killer, but he is shot in cold blood by Burnett's suspicious accomplice Clip Pearson. Dallas musical marshal Ed Sherwood, posing as cattle dealer Ted Post, is on the trail of a cattle embezzler in Santa Dolores. Clip Pearson doesn't trust Ed, but Ed makes him think he's an escaped killer. Meanwhile, Ed turns to locksmith and former outlaw Huck Homer for help.
