Partners of the Sunset plot
Bill Thompson, a middle-aged man, returns to his ranch with his much younger bride Janice and her so-called brother Les. Unhappy that his father has remarried, his son Dan wants him to leave the ranch. Despite repeated requests from ranch foreman Jimmy Wakely and rancher Cannonball, Dan is not allowed to take his horse. Having an affair, Janice and Les plan to usurp Bill Thompson's assets. In the city, the embittered Dan makes contact with the outlaws Kirk and Hashknife, who try to convince him to steal horses from his father. Jimmy and Cannonball catch Dan stealing the horses, and Janice promises not to tell her husband about it. However, Janice does tell Les, who then kills Bill Thompson and blames Dan.
