God's Country plot
"The law said he had killed a man!"
Lee Preston kills a man in self-defense, but flees when he is charged with murder. He flees into a wooded area divided by a river. He learns from the people there that trapping is good on one side of the river because wood is being cut on the other side. This causes the animals to flee to their side of the river. The trappers ask him to bring a petition to the governor asking him to forbid the loggers from crossing the river. Preston hesitates because he knows this could lead to his arrest.
