Tennessee, 1838. Polly Crockett, daughter of legendary Alamo hero Davy Crockett, lives by hunting in the vast forests still inhabited by Native Americans. Most of them live in peace, but some of them are negatively influenced by white traders. One day, Polly, accompanied by her loyal Native American friend Neshoba, goes to town to sell her hides. There Polly meets Catawampus Jones. Jones also competed at the Alamo with his father. Indians, under the influence of Prewitt, an employee of a hide-buying company, and Redbud, burn and kill settlers' houses. Polly's house is also destroyed and her domestic worker Birdie, Neshoba's mother, is killed. Polly, Neshoba and Jones then go deeper into the woods to chase the Indians.
