After a fight in the saloon, Cal Bowman has to spend the night in prison. The next day, at his ranch, Cal discovers that his brother has been badly injured in a botched bank robbery by an outlaw gang led by Bronc Grierson. Grierson wants Cal to rob the bank or else his brother won't get medical help and he will surely die. Cal commits the bank robbery and then flees to Mexico with his devoted girlfriend Janie Acker. Along the way, both get married. Not long after, Cal and Janie find an abandoned hacienda on Apache land. The Apaches appear to have killed the previous inhabitants, except for a baby. Both decide to raise the baby. Meanwhile, Sheriff John Costaine with a posse and Bronc Grierson with his outlaw gang are still chasing Cal. When Bronc Grierson's gang is decimated by an Apache attack, Cal hopes to clear his name.
