Desert Vengeance plot

Jim Cardew is on a boat heading to San Francisco. He gets to know Anne Dixon and her brother and falls in love with Anne. Cardew learns that they are not really brother and sister and that they live off scams. Cardew should have been the victim of one of their practices. To punish Anne and Hugh, he persuades them to come to Skyfields, a town surrounded by vast desert. He forces them there into slave labor. Then Cardew and his gang are attacked by a rival gang.
