Canyon Raiders plot

"Whip stalks wild horse plunderers to the gun-swept stronghold!"

Sam Wellman, Lou Banks and Jack Marlin own stolen horses from ranchers. The trio has collected the horses in the remote Baxter Canyon, hoping to sell them to the military at overpriced and false purchase invoices. Whip Wilson arrives in town just in time to separate recently arrived Texas settler Milburn and gambler Hemingway after a gunfight provoked by Hemingway's card cheating. Alice Lange, acting sheriff for her ailing father, mediates. Whip tells Alice that he is looking for his friend and rancher Jim Bannon, whose herd of horses has been stolen by horse thieves. Meanwhile, Texas Milburn and his wife Ruth want to settle near Baxter Canyon, but are driven out by the three horse thieves. Texas informs Alice and she takes a posse to Baxter Canyon, where Alice is captured and her companions are killed.
