California Firebrand plot
"CALIFORNIA HERE HE COMES!"
Monte Hale and his faithful friend Chuck Waggoner are on their way to Gunnison, California, to visit his uncle. Then both find the dead body of a man. He carries with him a telegram proving that he is the infamous outlaw Gunsmoke Lowry. Gunsmoke turns out to be invited by Lance Dawson, the mayor of Gunnison. Monte keeps this telegram with him and travels on to Gunnison, where he meets Joyce Mason who tells him that his uncle was murdered after organizing the local ranchers and miners to fight the ruthless and corrupt Dawson. Monte then visits Dawson and shows him the telegram. Dawson thinks he is Gunsmoke Lowry and appoints him city marshall. Monte's first assignment is to take away Grandma Mason's claim to a mine. Joyce and Grandma Mason try to convince Monte that Dawson is trying to steal this claim.
