"Rough! Romantic! Rarin' to go!"
Old Sergeant William Bailey and his men are stationed in the Philippines at the start of World War II. Bailey has a big secret; he has never been in the situation of actual fighting. While his men make their way to China to join the fighting there, Bailey is ordered to stay behind in the Philippines. Bailey feels humiliated and starts drinking. His wife begs him to leave the army and return to civilian life.
