As an American submarine captain, Casey Abbott (Reagan) has to carry out a perilous assignment during World War II. During a surprise maneuver, he manages to penetrate an area full of mines and destroy an enemy strongpoint there. However, when the submarine has to dive suddenly on its way back, the crew is forced to abandon its captain in the raging sea. Left alone in the sea, he fights for his life.
