"They know Everything but the Truth"
Joshua Lazarus is a 'scoper', a telepath who can read people's minds. There are only a handful of scopers in the world. With proper training, a scoper can learn to control the voices. But the gift is deadly, a scoper goes insane at the age of 29. Joshua is 28. Joshua and his mentor work with the government in exchange for a cure. On a mission, Joshua meets the untrained scoper Anna. Their unique gift makes them open their minds to each other and they soon fall in love. But the government does not allow this and they plan a disappearance to start a new life together. However, they are soon discovered and pulled apart. With the help of their childhood friend, Joshua is forced to uncover the truth about his gifts and those of the others.
