The Door plot
Millions of people around the world have encountered what they describe as dark, shadowy creatures that visit them at night. Sometimes horrific, sometimes deadly. This phenomenon is known as SUNDS (Sudden Unexplained Nocturnal Death Syndrome). Local DJ Charlie Crowe faces the mystery when a strange caller tells of a terrifying experience on his radio show. At the same time, Sophie Lancombe of the Center for Disease Prevention and Control is on the trail of the cause of this condition. Her research intertwines with Charlie's discoveries, and they both find themselves caught up in a murky world of a decades-long cover-up about the phenomenon we now know as the "Shadow People."
