Mac Mckussic is a drug dealer who wants to go straight. His old friend Nick Frescia is now a cop whose job it is to take down Mckussic. Mac is attracted to Jo Ann, a restaurant owner. Nick tries to approach her to learn more about Mac's drug-dealing practices. Nick also falls for Jo Ann's charms.

Mediocre film about an unusual friendship between a drug dealer and a cop. And if it is not their work that breaks the friendship, then it is a woman. So in itself a nice love triangle, but it comes across as a bit forced and rather unbelievable. And this goes for the rest of the movie as well. Of course the cast is worth it, but they don't know how to save the film on their own.

Had bought the vhs from this one a long time ago. But before I could watch it, the VCR broke. A few years later I bought a new one, but it was stolen - together with the TV - before I even got around to this band. And so this will forever remain 'that movie I haven't seen yet'. So I've already bought the DVD more than once...
Because I don't remember much about the film itself, the story is really quite slow and misses the action and the exciting intrigue too much to really stay with you. And what actually that friendship between Mel and Kurt is based on does not come across very well. Just as little as why it's suddenly hot and cold with Michelle. It's amazing how young they all are here. Oh, I'm about twenty-five years older myself.
Raul Julia does indeed play a beautiful role. The others, meh, wouldn't really stand out to me because of this movie. Although, Michelle is a really beautiful girl.

I thought this was a bad movie. The special thing is that this film did very well at the box office (100 million against a cost of 20 million dollars), but that was due to the trio of Gibson - Pfeiffer and Russell that everyone expected a lot from. So a lot of people were scammed when, unless of course they liked that movie...
The film continued to muddle through in a dull love triangle and a lackluster chemistry between Gibson and Russell. It seemed as if the two actors had nothing to do with each other and maybe they couldn't even get along behind the scenes. But it doesn't work with Pfeiffer either. I would have liked to see more of the steamy sex scene with Gibson than blurred images. A total lack of atmosphere too. In short: a failure across the board from which the makers come off well financially. Only Raul Julia provides a bright spot.
